I learned a lot of things today.
I learned that I can make mountains out of molehills.
I learned that I can totally misinterpret other people's nonverbal cues.
I learned that my Nica friend H. doesn't even have the word anger in his character.
I learned that old insecurities about wanting to be liked can make little mistakes seem like the end of the world.
I learned that open communication is the best policy in clarifying a potential intercultural misunderstanding.
I learned that I am respected and trusted by several Nicas in my ministry circle.
I learned that I can give cross-cultural advice about relationships.
I learned that people think that I am adjusting quickly to living here—and that, in H.'s words, I am (por fin) “thinking in Spanish”.
I learned that Nicaraguan friendships are more like a pair of jeans than a pair of chinelas.
I learned that His mercies are new every morning, afternoon, and evening.
