6. One book I wish I had written: The Soul of Politics by Jim Wallis
7. One book I wish had never been written: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (Jane Eyre was one thing, but this was torture)
8. A classic that I love: Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
9. Longest book I've ever read: Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Doestoyevsky
10. Booktag five other people: Andrea K., Brett U., Anya, Erin W., Paul S.
11. One book I would like to see made into a movie: The Secret Life of Bees by Susan Monk Kidd
12. My current favorite: anything by Henri Nouwen
13. One young adult book I always recommend: Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume and The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
14. Genre(s) I tend to ignore: mystery, sci-fi, horror

I would also like to take this opportunity to recommend Dreams of My Father by Barack Obama. Yes, I openly admit I am a fan of the junior Senator from Illinois!

Happy reading!

That's funny you chose Grapes of Wrath - I almost listed that one as the book I wish was never written - I know it's a classic but it was just so LONG! I believe the second chapter was all about a turtle trying to cross a road, and I remember reading that and thinking, how metaphorical! :) Love ya Pammie!

i have lots of good memories associated with reading GoW...summer before junior year of high school, i love historical fiction, and i wrote my end-of-the-year paper for my teacher mr. sullivan about the "pastoral" ending, which turned out to be the best paper i wrote in high school...

Pam,

You've got to get your hands on a copy of William T. Cavanaugh's TheoPolitical Imagination. It is right up your alley.

...Barak Obama...oh brother.

Hey, I just got back my book collection from storage and am very excited. And since you tagged me, I will respond with what I can.

1.One book that changed my life: The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell (the book was crap. See through and shallow arguments, but it was my first encounter with anti christian thought in a seminar group. It is what first spawned my interest in apologetics and kept me from going the way of the relativist

2.One book I have read more than once: The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis (I "borrowed" that book from Quiroz more times than I can remember throughout college and is still a favorite)

3. One book I would want on a desert island: Besides the Bible? Anything by C.S. Lewis... HUGE fan

4. One book that I tried to read but never finished for one reason or another: Faust by Goethe (I was tring to read it in the original German, showoff)

5. One book that made me cry: Haven't found that book yet

6. One book I wish I had written: HA! Any of the Harry Potter books... I would be a billionaire!

7. One book I wish had never been written: So I kissed dating goodbye by joshua harris (what a piece of crap)

8. A classic that I love: hmm, what defines a classic?

9. Longest book I've ever read: I would have to count pages, but probably The Brothers Karamazov

10. Booktag five other people: Nah, but I would love to get some recommendations on some good books

11. One book I would like to see made into a movie: This came to fruition just recently... The Lion, the Witch, and the Warobe. I knew about this one before they had found a dirctor. Lisa and I were the first in line.

12. My current favorite: Not so much a favorite, but right now I am reading Walking from East to West by Ravi Zacharias. Although I like him as a speaker more.

13. One young adult book I always recommend: Always The Chronicles, anything by Dahl, and to spite all the Evangelicals who rage against it... Harry Potter

14. Genre(s) I tend to ignore: horror/sci fi, and to some degree fiction. The truth is strange and scary enough

Anyway, I could definitely use some recommendations. Right now I am looking for some good books on theology to expand my limited knowlege. Erik, any suggestions? I am always scared of getting the "wrong" books i.e. too gnostic, too out there
